” It is important to be a lifelong learning, an active learner.” – Trevor McKenzie

In our 11th week, we had Trevor MacKenzie in our class. Trevor was an active, energetic, and positive teacher who is enthusiastic about teaching and education. After meeting him, I felt lots of importance about being a teacher, being responsible for all the things.

Trevor shared one of the most heartwarming stories that I have ever heard. He met this challenging student and showed how the teacher is influential to the students. If I think about my life, I also decided to study biology as an undergrad degree because of my high school biology teacher. I decided to become a teacher after I met teachers who are professional. We do not know when and where we meet these people.

Among the 10 characteristics of the inquiry that Trevor shared with us during the class, I was fascinated with the illustrations and thoughtful characteristics. One of my favorite was “enable students to take ownership over their own learning and to reach their goal.” During my previous experience in teaching, I have always thought that students have to take their part in learning as well. The teacher plays big role to lead students and they have to move their feet to walk through. I will always keep in mind about this illustration and hope to apply it in the future when I teach.
