Last week, we had very informative and great opportunities to meet up with various experts in different fields.

I joined several discussions and had a chance to learn about new resources that I can apply in my class in the future.

“Notion” was a website shared during the discussion where students can easily keep track of their assignments due dates and exam schedules. It can be used along with the group which will help students to work collaboratively. The format is very neat and simple to use. Because it can be used with computers and smartphones, it will be useful for us, university students and even people working in offices.

Another useful website shared was “Poll Everywhere”. It can be used to poll and vote where students can participate and share their thoughts. It can be modified where students can try to answer multiple-choice questions. So far, we have used “aha slides” in our other classes but this is another app that we can bring to the classroom.

During the discussions, BYOD – Bring Your Own Device discussion was interesting. It may depend on the students on how efficiently they can use. So far in my school observations, every student is expected to use their laptop for the class. Some teachers have an introduction activity with Kahoot and Quizlet. Allowing students to have their device, they will be cautious with the device and use it efficiently in class.

In the future, I would recommend my students to have their device in the class but with some regulation. In this way, students won’t abuse their devices yet try to enjoy activities comfortable.
