This week, Jesse Miller joined our meeting for EDCI 336 and showed some cases the people had faced online. As the meeting ended, I visited his website to learn about his idea furthermore. As a teacher candidate who believes that SNS can be used online for the benefit of students, I agree with his idea that knowing the trend is important. To refer my previous teachers, the ones who used memes and communicated with us using the Facebook group were able to manage closer relationships with the students. I believe the use of SNS shows that the teacher is more open to the new generations and ready to accept students’ opinions.

In my other class, EDCI 352, I learned about Twine with Rich McCue. He gave an example of Twine program that his daughter used in her history class. At first, the program looked complicated because I was always nervous when I hear anything about “Coding”. With his clear instructions, I was able to make my Twine story. I guess this is how students feel when they are exposed to something that they are fearing about but for sure, with the great guide, teachers can help students to feel less anxious.

As time goes by, I am getting more fluent in the programs taught in this class. First of all, MatterMost plays a huge role for me to connect with my colleagues. Because we are all distanced, it is so hard to communicate in this situation. With MatterMost, I can check the message anytime and still be connected to others. Trello has been a great help for me to catch up with my courses too. Taking 6 courses is not an easy job because it means I have to keep track of all the assignments and tasks for those courses. Creating notes for each course, I feel less stressed and anxious about the classes. WordPress seemed complicated at first and I was not sure how to post nor how to design my website but I am slowly learning it and getting friendlier with the blog. 🙂
