Last class in EDCI 336, we have discussed apps that we can use for editing sounds and video clips. Also, we were introduced to some programs that we can use to record our screen. Whenever I faced an issue related to the use of certain websites, I watched lots of video tutorials where the YouTubers record the screen of their computer to give instructions and they were very helpful. Rather than listing down the instruction with orders, screen recording is 100 times efficient to the viewers. Therefore, knowing how to use such a program will be useful for the students and the teachers.
In the past, I have experience using iMovie and GarageBand to edit sounds and videos. iMovie is one of the easy video editing programs that is used widely. iMovie has several effects for transitions, backgrounds, and even text effects so where I make a video for class or slideshows of pictures after the trip, it was useful. Back in high school, I had the experience of using a green screen where we film in front of the green background and add it to our video as a layer on top. It was an amazing experience and gave me an idea of how movie directors use green screens in their movies. For GarageBand, I have seen lots of musicians use their keyboards, guitars, drums, and all the kinds of instruments to build music in it. Because I am not a music person, I couldn’t do such cool works but I have edited sound files on it by cropping, merging, adding sounds on top of another, and other simple skills. My first computer was a mac so I tried hard to learn the programs on Apple computers. There are still tons of programs on my computer that I was too scared to open but with the confidence, I gained in this class, I am slowly getting friendly with the tech apps.
